Why Small Businesses Fail
Oct 15th
It is amazing that over half of small businesses never make it to their fifth birthday. In human terms that would be considered an epidemic and all kinds of resources would be used to find the cure. But in all my adult years, which are quite a few, this is still the prevailing figure for small businesses.
I was just reading an article about why businesses fail and, although they had ten reasons listed, I think that many of them would come under one umbrella – policies and procedures.
I can say that I’m even guilty of this, although I do have More >
Printer Woes
Oct 11th
Ever been printing along and suddenly your printing is terrible. You check out the cartridges and they still show good ink levels. You try again and still terrible printing. The culprit may be the ink itself.
Often times we try to cut costs for our business, sometimes successfully and sometimes not. However, printer cartridges by a second party are not always the same quality as the manufacturer’s. This is because they aren’t privy to the exact ingredients in the ink. Or at least it seems that their reverse engineering doesn’t always workout very well.
Could your cartridges be messing up your printing?

Professional Uniforms For You Crew

Professionally dressed and physically. A winning combination for security and safety.
One thing that helps with people’s perception of a company is the employees wearing proper attire. Entering a bank, or other at risk business, and finding a uniformed security guard gives a sense of safety that wouldn’t be there if they were just wearing street clothes.
If you own, or are considering opening, a private security company then you’ll want to dress your workers in the latest law enforcement gear available on the market. Of course it may not be appropriate, or lawful, for your guards to wear guns or handcuffs, but More >

If an acquisition or merger is in your future, get professional help.
With all the recent changes in the economy many business are looking for a lifeline. Sometimes this lifeline comes in the form of an acquisition or merger offer. Both mergers and acquisitions are tricky and should be handled by professionals that have a great track record.
Let’s take an example, say chemical mergers and acquisitions. Many times these transactions take part across international borders and are best handled by a chemical investment bank rather than a ‘generalist’ banker. Only someone with experience in the field is going to have any idea More >

Who knew people would love pushing dirt around?!
In so many areas of the economy business will never be the same. That’s when you need to innovate. One such innovation took place in Las Vegas. As people can no longer afford to gamble many casinos have gone belly up. Of course that means that the construction industry has changed to a destruction industry.
However, one business owner, thinking outside the box, realized he had a gold mine setting right in front of him in the empty lots.
Now people pay up to $750 each to use some of the earth-moving equipment. They get More >
Where To Reach The Younger Crowd
Oct 7th
With young adults being a major purchasing power these days, it’s important to engage them. A recent meeting with the 20-something crowd helped us to realize that we were spending our time and money in the wrong direction.
Emails are pretty much a dead end these days. So, sending out newsletters or email ads will only reach the older crowd, who don’t change and adapt as quickly. Social media really is the way to reach them, through Facebook, Twitter and texting. Since texting isn’t something businesses have gotten into yet, being able to attract them through other social media is the More >
Making Lemons Into Lemonade
Oct 6th
In this day and age we all rely heavily on our cars. Because the US is not a very pedestrian friendly country, sometimes even getting a gallon of milk requires a trip in the car. Almost everyone drives to and from work on a daily basis. Then there are children’s activities, household errands, etc., that require a reliable vehicle.
In today’s business scene, many people travel extensively. Not only sales people, but project managers, construction workers, etc., are on the road regularly. When your car doesn’t work then, it costs you time and, more importantly, money.
