We're trying out Task Coach for organizing all our to-dos.

For the past two to three weeks my husband and I have been looking at programs to manage our budding businesses. We had some pretty strict requirements and it took a long time to find one that came close to meeting our needs.

The first thing we looked for was a task management program. We were very intrigued by Toodledo, but a little leery of having all our information on the cloud. We live out in the country and every once in awhile we’ll have an outage in our Internet carrier from a storm. Since we’re not in the hub of things it can sometimes take them several days and once even a week to get things working, as we’re kinda low on the totem pole. If that wasn’t a problem, we’d probably have gone that direction. However, there was one thing that Toodledo didn’t do. It didn’t allow multi-layer subtasks. You could only go three levels deep. We could have worked around that, but we found a program that will allow us to do as many levels of subtasks as we want and still has a lot of other functions.

We’re in the testing phase with it right now, but so far my husband’s been able to figure out how to do almost everything we want. Drag and drop doesn’t exist, but you can order things by changing their due dates, so at least if we get something in the wrong place there is a way to right it. The program is called Task Coach, so you might want to take a look at it yourself.

Next time I’ll go into some other resources we found to use, both electronic and otherwise.
