When preparing to open a new business, time can just slip through your fingers.

I just looked at my past blog entries and noted that it was way back at the end of July that I said I was going to try and get myself more organized. Here it’s November and I’m not any further along that I was then.

Well, that’s not 100% true. I’ve been taking all the free small business classes at the local community college, which have helped me see what I need to do, and I’m finally ready to start looking into three possibilities.

Over the next week I hope to do enough research to see if any of my ideas are viable. If it looks like they might be a go, then I’ll start by doing a business plan, for each of the viable options, and try to get a real good idea of the income potential and the amount of work needed to reach it. I’ll also look at how flexible the work would be, as I do travel a lot and need to have some income I can count on when I’m abroad.

Two of the three businesses are something I’ve been interested in for a very long time, but never had the courage and commitment to really look at them. The other is one that I’ve been told I’m very good at, and could probably make good money doing, so I’m a little less interested in it. However, it has the most portability, so I’ll keep it in the hopper.

Hopefully I’ll have an entry by the end of next week, outlining who the winner is and why. I can see why people have a hard time making their dreams a reality. It has taken me a little over three months just to get ready to start doing research!
