How To Teach An Online Course
Apr 27th
Taking class online can make home responsibilities easier.
It’s Research TimeThat’s what I want to do. So, you’re going to go along for the ride as I research what I need to be able to do it. Not just the technical aspect, although that is really the most daunting to me, but also how to present curriculum when you can’t easily interact with your participants; what resources there are for delivery; how should I deliver certain materials; etc.
I’ll be looking at how I can do this with a WordPress site, as that is the site management system I plan to use. More >
Watch Out For “Hidden” Charges
Apr 14th
Watch out for fees. They could wring your dry of profits.
Ignorance Isn’t BlissRecently I started selling some items on eBay. This was not a business venture, just trying to clear out some items that we no longer need that others might find useful. I had taken a class on eBay selling and the guy who taught it made is sound like it was easy money in the bank. He did mention the fees, but it didn’t really sink in until I started selling for myself.
I didn’t really realize how many fees there are involved in making a sale. There are More >
5 Things That Stop You From Succeeding
Mar 30th
It pays to check and see if you're making any of these blunders.
One epiphany I had just a short time ago is that I almost never completely complete something. There’s always a little something that doesn’t get done and that hangs over me forever. I always think, “I’ll get to that someday,” but someday never comes.
I’ve fallen into a very common trap, the trap of self-sabotage. There are many reasons for this, but there are five outstanding reasons we don’t complete our goals and reach the level of success we dreamed about in the beginning.

Learning To Pace Information Delivery
Mar 22nd
I’m starting to realize that I have way more information than most people can assimilate in eight weeks. Just yesterday I was doing a segment on emotional health. We had our one-hour conference call. At the end of the call I had only covered about half the information! In order to have a complete toolbox, they really need all the information and more!
I’m beginning to think I’m going to have to break it into five programs, each one being about four weeks in length. It takes 21 days to instill a new habit, so it would have to be More >
Glad I Did A Pilot Program
Mar 13th
If you give too much information too fast, it just confuses your participants.
I’m really glad I didn’t just try to launch my business to the general public without testing it first. I’m finding it extremely helpful to get feedback. Everything has been pretty positive, but just doing the class has taught me a couple of things.
One, I know a lot of stuff that most people don’t about living a healthy lifestyle. I found that the people in the class were aware of some of the toxins in foods, personal care, and cleaning products, but not nearly as aware as I More >
Business Takeoff
Mar 6th
My fledgling business made a graceful first flight.
Last night I had the first class of my fledgling business and it managed to do a graceful takeoff, flight, and landing. I was a little nervous, because this is my first time presenting all this information and I was worried I might forget what I wanted to cover, but everything went well.
Because this is the pilot program I’m having them fill out a feedback form for every class. I want immediate feedback on what was covered and whether they felt it was useful, wasteful, or they were put off by it.

Monday’s The Big Day
Mar 2nd
Make sure you have consent and release forms for you business, if needed.
I start my pre-launch program in just a couple days. Over the weekend I need to complete all the paperwork, which includes: consent and release form; weight and measurement form; feedback form; prepare emails that have supplemental material in them; complete notes.
One thing I wasn’t anticipating was that information that I used for a similar class would no longer be on my hard drive. I looked everywhere and even on two additional drives. They were nowhere to be found. Luckily I found hard copies of everything I wanted More >
First Program Preparations
Feb 28th
Healthy diet is just one way to create total health.
I have less than a week before my first Healthy Lifestyle Program starts. I’m doing what many marketers suggest. I’m testing my product on a small market. I have four people ,that I know and trust will give me honest feedback on the program.
Here’s the information I hope to gain by working with a small pre-launch group:
- Lots of feedback: What they find helpful. What they deem useless. How easy it is to implement what I’m asking them to do. What information needs to be more in-depth and what needs to have More >
Looking For A Business?
Feb 14th
As the economy continues its agonizingly slow recovery, many people have been out of work for an extended period of time. If you’re one of them and have the desire to own your own business, rather than returning to the workaday world, finding the right fit in a business can be daunting. For a few people they know exactly what they want to do, as they’ve dreamed about it all their life. However, for many their dream job was the one they just lost. Now they feel like a boat without a rudder, just drifting in circles.

First Participant
Feb 10th
I have my first participant for my pilot program. Now the real work begins. You know you plan and plan, then when you start in for earnest everything that you didn’t think about planning rears its ugly head.
I’ve got a skeleton outline of what I want to cover in the classes, but now I have to prepare the indepth information, especially handouts and reference materials. I need to have homework for each class and interactive work that they’ll do with their health buddies (need a catchy name for this).
What am I going to provide, what do they need to provide? More >
